Seattle area Teens go wild - for nature

36 teens talk about their experiences in the North Cascades Institutes' Wild outdoor education program for disadvantaged youths. Each summer participants, mostly immigrants, members of low-income households or minorities, are given an opportunity that would normally be out of reach for them — 10 days of total immersion in the natural beauty of Ross Lake, Washington.

Thanks to U.S. Forest Service and others—kids spend more time outside in Wyoming

Teton county programs like "Snake River Days" re-introduce children to to nature through canoeing, fly fishing, whitewater rafting, and wildlife watching. It is all part of Wyoming's "Healthy Kids, Healthy Watersheds" program, a public and private sector partnership that includes Friends of Pathway, the Latino Resource Center, Jackson Hole Ski Club, and Teton County Schools.
